Summer is here! And with it, the hot, desert-like temperatures. Stay ahead of the southwest heat with advice from the cooling experts at Johnson Air.

Stock Up on Air Filters

Regularly changing air filters is the most important self-maintenance you can do for your HVAC system. Clean air filters help keep systems running smoothly, extend the lifespan of cooling/heating systems, lowers utility bills and improves indoor air quality. Air filters clog frequently during the summer months when our ACs are constantly working to keep us cool, and dust, dirt, and sand collect faster than we can clean it. A good rule of thumb is to check your air filter twice a month, especially if your AC is considered outdated.

Determine if Your Air Conditioning is in Good Shape

An overwhelming number of homeowners don’t realize their air conditioning unit needs repair until it breaks down. Knowing what condition your AC is in can prevent you from falling victim to the southwest heat during the summer months when you need your AC the most. A repair inspection with a certified technician will determine what shape your AC is in if it is outdated and conclude cost-efficiency of replacing versus repairing the unit.

Get the Humidifier Going

The heat of the southwest often translates into irritated sinuses, thirsty plants, and dry air. A humidifier keeps secure amounts of moisture in your home and is proven to decrease the risk of infections, help your body heal faster, improve sleep and even keep your houseplants healthier!

Make Sure your Duct Work is in Good Condition

Many dollars are wasted in energy costs and repairs on inefficient ductwork. A small investment of sealing your existing ductwork can really pay off! Johnson Air certified technicians inspect and evaluate current ductwork and reseal or replace as needed. The EAC Airscubber Plus is another helpful tool to make sure your ductwork stays in good condition and can help expand the lifespan of your HVAC system.
